Meet Rob

As a life long resident of the City of Wyoming, I am passionate about my city.  I have watched Wyoming go through its ups and downs and feel the importance of being involved in helping to drive the city toward future properity.  I believe in being actively engaged and involved.  As a result of this philosophy, it is my honor and privilege to be a candidate for the City of Wyoming City Council At Large Seat!  I am eager to use my background and skill to help enhance Wyoming as a preferred place to live, work, operate a business and raise a family.

I have been blessed to be married to my wife Dawn for 31 years.  We have two adult sons, Travis and Jake.  Our family has been blessed by our time in Wyoming and want to ensure that all families have opportunities to experience employment, recreation, worship and leisure while having first class public safety and utilities.

I was raised in the Wyoming Park area near Lamar Park and then in the pan handle.  My father worked in a factory as a supervisor while my mother was an elementary school teacher.  They taught me the qualities of hard work, loyalty, commitment to God, service and education.  Dawn and I have lived in Wyoming our entire marriage.  We have had great experiences in a number of different neighborhoods as both a renter and homeowner.

I am a graduate of both Hope College (double major in Business Administration and Communications) and Western Michigan University (Masters of Business Administration).  I have been an executive in the banking/financial services industry for over 33 years where I have held roles that required extensive skills in leadership, strategy, finance, budgeting, and collaboration.

In addition to my career, giving back via community involvement has been a priority.  Through this involvement, I have been molded to be an effective leader for the City of Wyoming.  Here are some of my applicable experiences that would translate into an effective City Council member:

  • Planning Commissioner – City of Wyoming(2011 – present)
  • Wyoming Sign Ordinance Task Force( 2010 – 2011)
  • Credit Union Vice President(2020 – present)
